Rise Above (7/20/12)
When hands of time, they rule the day,
Steal those who we love most away,
And only we are left to play:
That is when we rise above.
When distance forces us apart
That is the time when we must start,
Must do the work to play our part:
That is when we rise above.
When heat without and fire within
Compete, they stretch us paper thin,
A struggle to breathe out and in:
That is when we rise above.
Where strength and courage we have found
That is our place, our hallowed ground.
There no one pushes us around:
That is where we rise above.
They came before and led the way.
We fight for them and us today.
For victory, that’s why we say:
That is why we rise above.
Through all the blood and sweat and tears,
Through ups and downs, throughout the years,
We rise above our greatest fears:
That is how we rise above.
If you are trapped between your feelings and what other people think is right, always go for whatever makes you happy.
I’ve realized that in the end, it takes more bravery to find out who you are beyond your pain than to merely survive it.
Believe in yourself. It’s up to you to define your own limits. You determine what you are capable of. You decide how far you want to go. You make it happen.
